Below is some information on the counting methods and units of measurement pertaining to translation services, which are used to determine quotes for professional translations.
The main unit of measurement adopted by Alltrad is a page of 1,500 characters, spaces included (25 lines of 60 characters each).
The rates for each language of the price-list defined with the customer are applied to the number of pages translated.
For quotes, Alltrad calculates quantity according to the original text and applies a variable development percentage according to target language.
“Fat rate” quotes can be provided on request and almost immediately.
Alltrad offers its customers use of Plunet, the translation portal, free of charge.
Plunet allows customers to request quotes, directly uploading the files, thus avoiding the use of email that imposes limits when documents are large and require IT security.
TRANSLATION WITH THE AID OF CAT TOOLS
The unit of measurement is the word. The final number of words is calculated based on the original text, applying different discount percentages according to repetition measured by analysing the text.
An assessment can also be made of the advisability or not of creating a memory, aligning the client’s previous translations (“alignment“).

Editing and any other services requested by the client are calculated considering the number of pages or hours involved.
